What We Do
American Friction Welding (AFW) is North America’s largest full-service rotary friction welding job shop, delivering precision-engineered solid-state welds for mission-critical components. From our 63,000 sq. ft. ISO 9001:2015 certified facility in Waukesha, Wisconsin, AFW operates 18 friction welding centers and a full complement of CNC machining and inspection systems. Our capabilities allow us to join a wide range of similar and dissimilar metals, including carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum, copper alloys, and high-nickel materials.
Our direct-drive rotary friction welding process produces full-penetration joints without melting, yielding superior bond strength, tighter dimensional tolerances, and reduced material waste.
